Yongnian District in Handan, Hebei Province is China's largest fastener manufacturing cluster, producing roughly 40% of the country's standard fasteners. Quality traps to watch
- Grade substitution — 4.8 grade bolts sold as 8.8. Always require mill certificates (MTCs) and, for structural use, third-party lab tests
- Undersized threads — go/no-go thread gauges cost a few dollars and settle any dispute
- Thin zinc coating — specify coating thickness in μm or g/m², not just "galvanized"
- Mixed lots — leftover stock mixed into new production; check packaging and marking consistency
Logistics
Yongnian is 170 km from Shijiazhuang and about 450 km from Tianjin Port. Fasteners are heavy and dense — full container loads (FCL) are almost always cheaper than LCL. Many Middle East buyers consolidate fasteners with pipe fittings and wire mesh from neighboring clusters to fill a 40ft container.
